Well, it looks like summertime has finally come. My favorite time of year! I do admit, here in LA, it’s like summer three-fourths of the year. However, soon there will be a weekend holiday that is the widely-accepted real true beginning of summer: Memorial Day Weekend! And what better way to kick-off the summer, than with a new show with new songs and new sounds. AND (and this may be the best detail of all) its an ice cream social!
Stories is releasing a new, hand-made ice cream. We will be playing and they will be giving samples. — what? Delicious = Awesome.
Be sure to come to this tasty, free show in Echo Park.

Also, for the next few months, we will be playing around our favorite town: Los Angeles. Check us out in locations west and east and north and south.

Enough of Your Love
In the lead-up to the show yesterday, we made a little video inlieu of a regular-smegular flyer. This is an original song that i wrote for a friend’s film (“Secrets” Dir. but Simone Drehmer).
Please, enjoy our fabulous back-up drinkers.
PS --Sorry i didn't post this on Saturday–it all happened so fast. The show went very well, we had a lot of fun playing mostly all covers as part of our new “UNDER WATER is UNDER COVER” series. Look for more secret shows this summer. :) Check out our facebook– link in the right column.

Under Water Under Cover
Under Water is fluid, like... well... like water.
Its latest manifestation is a duo including steve sims, percussion, and erin, the lady singer.
Look for us in LA, performing dozens of shows throughout the summer. If you are lucky, you might be able to catch one of our super-secret-cover shows. In case you dont make it, you can always watch this video over and over again. It's the least we can do for our lovely fans :)

collecting
Erin and Lee played at the Community Pool tonight. I didnt know what to expect; this time around it was at the Improv Space in Westwood. Last time I played it was poolside in Reseda.
Even though the space was different, and the collection of artists and musicians were fresh, it had the same friendly vibe that i like about the first show. People are there to really watch a show and
create a fun community environment and everyone was awesome.
Its always a new show. This tuesday we played the Cat Club again. This time we included some new songs, and introduced a new friend on guitar, Jeremy Tague!
check out this awesome Bike PSA by Erial Tompkins, featuring "The Road" by Under Water!

The Newest Addition
Isn't she just lovely? This new wahine Ukulele is made out of Mango wood and sounds like a gorgeous bell.
The best part -- BUILT-IN Pick-up! My little Swedish Uke, Sheila, has done such a great job so far, but it's time for a different sound. Or maybe we'll do some multiple ukulele experimentation. I know Lee ADORES playing the uke too.

Pleasing the Princesa
played a show in a small cafe in Eagle Rock. They didnt know what to expect but we pretty much rocked the joint!
This venue helped us realize we can be very flexible. Big sounds for rock shows, low-key fun stuff for smaller shows. Hurray for us!
It was a lot of fun, and thanks to the few who came out: Jess and Fred D. are officially our regulars.

Clowning Around
last night i played at an awesome in event in Reseda. Who even knew things happened in Reseda?
Anyhow it was called Community Pool and it included artists/DJs/Musical performances/improv/and clowns!
I didnt know being a clown was sucha serious affair.
The shows were all collaborative so there was a clown performance while i played, which was awesome!
The clown is Margot. and she was just adorable.

Last Show at The Park
It was fun playing in the cafe in the Park the last couple of months. Every Friday playing for two hours in the sun.
There were always a lot of friendly faces, free tea, and dancing babies (yes, actual dancing babies).
Ive always wanted to play a residency somewhere, and this was the perfect summertime gig.

Under Water
Under Water is the passion project of singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, Erin Hickman. Erin began singing at the age of 7; later going on to train with Jazz Vocalist Azure McCall. Singing professionally through her teens, she went on to compose and record her first EP at 17.
Growing up in Hawaii and drawing from influences such as Jolie Holland, PJ Harvey, Radiohead, and Roy Orbison, Erin combines her loves for traditional Hawaiian folk music and jazz vocal styling to create a complex sound that is at once lyrically haunting and engaging in its pop sensibilities.
Under Water is currently at work on a new EP and performing in Los Angeles.
